Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant Review

Price: 85$ from David Jones and Online

Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant is a new product in Age Smart range . It contains powerful enzymes, alpha hydroxy acids and Binchotan Charcoal which help to  absorbs environmental toxins and guard against damaging effects of pollution.

It comes in an easy to use simple bottle very similar to Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. The product has powder form and  it has light smell. It is very easy to apply and removes effortlessly with few splashes of water.

Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant can be used every day but I used it three to four times a week. After regular use I have seen that instant and long term results are not much different.  It makes my skin silky soft and disappears dry skin patches. It also shrinks my pores and make black heads less noticeable. My skin feels smooth and hydrated after each use.
I love the fact that it is very gentle, doesn’t dry or strip my skin.
This product also prepares my skin for makeup application, as after its use, my foundation glides smoothly on my skin. It is great for special occasion when you want to prepare your skin.

Overall, I like Dermalogica Daily superfoliant, it is great for everyone and more suitable for normal, dry  and mature skin beauties. The only down side is the price and availability, it is expensive and not available in my local stores. I wish it comes in Priceline, so we can buy it easily.

A closer look- Platinum Base Blending Brush, Powder Brush, Blush Brush and Eye Contour Brush
Platinum Base Blending Brush: RRP $14.99
Platinum Powder Brush: RRP $19.99
Platinum Blush Brush: RRP $18.99
Platinum Contour Eye Brush:RRP 9.95$

Platinum Beauty introduced a new line of Makeup Brushes recently, these brushes are exclusive to Woolworths. I  have got 4 different brushes for the trial and honestly I am surprised with their quality. I will discuss these brushes individually but I have found some great things in all these four brushes.

  • All of these brushes have a sleek design which is very similar to some high end makeup brushes.
  • Their handle is made of good quality heavy plastic while bristles are soft, fluffy and dense.
  • They work great with all kind of products, but you need to be careful when using highly pigmented product (like my Illamasqua blush).
  • All of these brushes feel soft and gentle on my face.
  • They are quick and efficient in applying makeup up
  • They do  pick the right amount of product and do not absorb much powder or liquid.
  • I washed them, the bristles do not shed yet and they remain in their original shape.
  • They are cruelty free and made of synthetic bristles.
Base Blending Brush: RRP $14.99
It is flat foundation brush which is slightly tapered. I apply it in buffing motion and it gently blend the foundation. It evenly applies cream or liquid foundation and gives me flawless finish with in few minutes.

Powder Brush: RRP $19.99
The powder brush is big enough, you can see in the pictures how dense and fluffy it is. I use it in sweepy motions and it perfectly applies powder with little fall out. The quality is very similar to It cosmetics powder brush, they work really well on pigmented products.

Blush Brush: RRP $18.99
The blush brush is very good size and I use it for contouring too. Due to its shape, It apply and blends the product easily. I use it to apply blush, bronzer or strobe powder and it works great with all of them. I own RT blush brush but it is too big for my face. I love the size of this brush as it is great for small faces too.

Contour Eye Brush: RRP $9.99
Eye brush is dense and little bit bigger for my small eye area. I use it along eye crease and it
I used this brush for highlighting too. It nicely apply and blends powder products on my face and eyes.

Overall, I like these brushes, I am happy that now quality brushes are available from supermarket at such a low price. It is difficult to find my favourite brush, but powder brush is something which I do not expect from drugstore, its quality is superb, way superior than other brushes. Base blending brush is also worth trying as it is great for liquid and cream foundations.

Priceline 40% off Cosmetics Haul

Time to share my Priceline haul, I pick some new products and some old favourites. What I picked in the previous pricline sales, click here.

 Models Prefer Palette
Essence Matte Matte Matte lipstick in 03

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation: This is my third bottle, it is my all time favourite foundation.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet: Bourjois is a brand which is only available at Priceline and it rarely goes on sale. I picked this in shade Funchsia 13, it is pink based red colour.

Essence Matte Matte Matte: I got it in the shade 03, I wanted to buy it in the last priceline sale but it was out of stock.

NYX Lip Lingerie: The case is same with Nyx lip lingrie, this time they had only few in stock. Luckily I got it in Bedtime Flirt shade which is a beautiful nude shade, I will review it in detail.

NYX Butter Gloss:I have used it in the past and loved it.

Models Prefer Palette: I  got it for my daughter,  it is only 3$. The pigmentation is poor, I think it is designed for kids and teenagers as it says "not suitable for kids under 3".

I hope you take advantage of this Priceline Sale and stocked some of your favourites.

NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown 05 Review

Price: 8.95$ from Priceline and Target Stores.

NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in dark brown 05

I bought NYX auto eyebrow during priceline 40% off cosmetics sale, you can find details here.  I have read mixed reviews about this product, some really love it while others are disappointed. It is  is available in 8 different shades, I feel that choosing right shade is very important to avoid disappointment.  I got it in the shade dark brown which is closer to my natural brow colour.

It comes in a strong black packing with a twist function pencil on one side and a brow brush on the other. The pencil is thick and has oval shape, great to fake fuller brows but not good for precise application. It is well pigmented, one swipe is enough to show good colour. I have used a number of brow products and find that brow products are not suppose to be very dark like eyeliners, they should give a soft pigment to our brows. This brow pencil gives me natural looking fuller brows and even I do not need to use any other brow product.  My eyebrow does not look overdrawn which I absolutely love.

NYX auto brow pencil is a long lasting product and last on my brows for more than 7 hours with out smudging and fading.

Overall, I love this brow pencil, it instantly gives me beautiful natural looking brows.  I use it on daily basis and find it a perfect dupe of benefit goof proof with the friction of price. I recommend it for every one but not for those who are looking for precise brow pencil.

Priceline 40% off Cosmetics Sale is on 22nd and 23rd of March 2017, Here is my recommendations for this sale. I try to mention only those products which are latest or I am introduced to them recently, for my previous haul click here.

Essence Matte Touch Blush: If you love matte blushes, you will love this.
Rimmel Sculpting Palette: An all in one palette, can be used on cheeks and eyes.
Klara Reset Gel: I hope it will be included in the sale, it is great for upcoming dry season. It instantly exfoliate the skin and prepare it for make up.

Essence Lip Liner: You can never get wrong with this 2$ product.
Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick: Current favourite drugstore lipstick.

Maybelline Colour Tatoo: Highly pigmented and long lasting eyeshadows
Essence Make Me Brow: A perfect dupe of Benefit Gimme Brow.
NYXAuto Eyebrow Pencil: I got it in the last Priceline sale and I am pleasantly surprised by the quality.
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeliner: Highly pigmented and long lasting, if you have tried it in the past, you should give it an other try. Rimmel has improved the formula, you can find more details here.
Essence All about Rosses Eyeshadow: It comes in four different version, I believe that all of them have the same formula. If you are on budget and looking for a good drugstore palette, this is a best option, better than some expensive ones.
Essence 2 in 1 Eyeliner Pen: For only 4$ you will get this eyeliner with two different pens.

Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail polish: I have more than 4 of these polishes, love their finish and longevity.

MAC VS Urban Decay Lipstick - Comparison

MAC Lipstick in Perfect Score (Matte): 36$
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Menace (Matte Comfort): 28$

MAC  in Perfect Score and Urban Decay in Menace

Here is a comparison of MAC and Urban Decay lipsticks, I own both of them in matte version.
  • Both comes in a strong beautiful packing, MAC has vanilla smell while UD is almost fragrance free.
  • In USA both lipsticks retails for 17 USD, in Australia MAC lipstick is sold for 36$ and Urban decay is for 28$. There is 8$ difference between the prices.
  • MAC is available at Myer, David Jones, and online at MAC's website where they often have free shipping. You can easily find MAC in all the cities of Australia (including Canberra). Urban Decay is only available at selected Mecca store and even we doenot have UD in Canberra. WE can only buy it online and ended up paying 10$ for the shipping.
  • MAC contains 3g product and UD contains 3.4g product which is 0.4g more than MAC
  • Both are highly pigmented, opaque and provide full coverage.
  • The formula of MAC is creamier and more hydrating than UD but both are comfortable to wear and non drying.
  • Both of them transferred a little bit but MAC has more tendency to stain cups and glasses.
  • On my lips UD last longer than MAC, it last up to 9 hours with eating and drinking while MAC gets patchy after 6 hours. Both does not completely disappears, I need to remove them properly at the end of the day.
Final Verdict: It is hard to decide which one is better as it depends on your preferences. I like Urban Decay more than MAC due to its longevity and price. But it is not available in Canberra, so if I want to buy an new lipstick I do not have option to buy UD.

In my opinion, Urban Decay is good for you if you like long lasting lipstick and you can buy it in store after swatching the shades. You can read my review here, I actually buy it online and you can see how it ended up.

MAC is good for you if you like creamy hydrating matte lipstick. MAC is always a great option due to its availability, even there are plenty of reviews of MAC lipsticks which make it easy to find right shade for you.

Have you tried MAC or Urban Decay, which one is your favourite?

Garnier BB Cream Nude Review*

Price: 15.95 from superstores and pharmacies

Garnier BB nude cream swatch

Garnier BB nude cream comes in a simple tube packing which is very easy to use. The cream has strong smell which is very similar to Original Garnier BB cream.

The cream has white colour but when it comes into contacts with my skin it changes the colour. It adjusted to my pale skin tone and I only need a pea size amount to cover my entire face and neck. The cream applies and blends easily, it dries in few seconds and instantly gives me smooth skin.

It evens out my skin tone and gives me brighter complexion. It provides very light coverage and it does not cover acne marks or dark circles. If I need extra coverage I use compact powder and concealer over it. The formula is hydrating and on my dry skin it really works very well. Sadly it does not last for the long time on my skin. After 3 hours, it looks patchy and starts disappearing on my T-zone which is not very oily.

It is great that it has SPF15 so I do not need to use sunscreen with it, but I prefer to use BB cream with better longevity. I am using it for more than two weeks and it does not cause any negative reaction.

Overall, this product is OK for me, it looks natural on my skin, sadly it does not last long.

Maybelline New York Brick Bronzer Review*

Price: 21.95$ from Priceline, Chemist Warehouse pharmacies and super markets

Swatches from left to right Shimmering bricks together, brown shade, rose shade, pink highlighting shade and Matte bronzer

Maybelline brick bronzer comes in a sleek black and rose gold packing. The pan is divided into two parts. One contains matte bronzer while other has skimmer bricks. First I like to discuss the matte bronzer. It is highly pigmented and little bit powdery, even one swipe is enough to show intense colour and I need to be careful when I use it. The bronzer is light tan and it is not muddy or ashy. The application is very easy with out much fall out, it blends effortlessly, only you need to use a soft good quality brush for perfect application. The bronzer looks good on my pale skin, it is little bit orangish and can be used for  contouring too.  It does last for long time on my face and starts disappearing after 7 hours.

Now come to the shimmer bricks, which actually amazed me. There are small bricks of three different shades of pinks and golds. These colours can be worn individually or can be used together for beautiful glowy bronzy complexion. When I used them together it warmed up my skin tone and leaves a beautiful sheen. The formula of these shimmer bricks are impressive, all of them are creamy, buttery, highly pigmented and truly wearable. I use the lighter one as a highlighter on my cheek bones, nose, forehead, and chin. I use them as eye shadows too, I apply lighter shade as brow highlighter, golden or pink shades on lid and matte bronzer as a transition colour. These bricks perform really very well as bronzer, highlighter and eye shadows.

Overall, I like Maybelline Bricks Bronzer,  This is a versatile product, can be used as bronzer, eye shadows and highlighter. the price tag is high but Maybelline often goes on 50% off sale and you can pick this for 11$. The only down size is the shade selection, there is only one shade available for this product. I feel that this shade may not be great for cool tones, very fair and very dark skin coloured beauties.

Garnier Micellar Water in Oil Review*

Price: 14.99$ from Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, Supermarkets and selected pharmacies

I have used Garnier Micellar water for sensitive skin in the past. I was so excited to try this new product as I have dry skin.

Garnier Micellar Water in Oil comes in a transparent 400 ml bottle with flip top function which is very easy to use. I can see that inside the bottle water is separated from oil, it is only on the top layer of the product, I need to shake it well before use.  It has pleasant smell which I can still feel after few minutes of application.  The consistency is between water and oil, it is not watery neither greasy.

According to the instruction, I dab the cotton pad in the micellar water and then wipe my face with it. Surprisingly all my make up removes in a single attempt. One gentle swipe is enough to remove makeup, even my long lasting eye liner and mascara removes quickly.

Garnier Micellar Water in Oil is very gentle on my skin and eyes, it does not irritate. My skin feels soft and clean after each use.  It leaves a thin greasy layer on my face which is ok for me. The instructions say that I do not need to wash my face with water after using this. Usually I like to wash my face after removing my makeup. Still at some days when I am so tired, I do not bother to wash, I only use this product and it works great individually. My skin feels clean and hydrated after each use, it does not make my skin dry and tight.

I have used it for the last few weeks and I found that it is great to remove all kind of make up including long lasting foundation, lipsticks, water proof mascara and eyeliner. Due to its unique formula, I do not need to rube several time, a gentle swipe is enough to remove long lasting makeup.

Overall, I like Garnier Micellar Water in Oil, it makes my makeup removing activity easy, efficient and quick. It is great for all skin types specially for those who use water proof and long lasting make up. I highly recommend it for time poors too, It really saves time and energy at the end of the day.
